The Redeemed Tongue and Grieving Spirit
In Paul’s call to purity, he singles out the tongue. The corrupt and unwholesome tongue corrupts those around it, as well as reveal the condition of one’s heart, and ultimately grieves the Holy Spirit. But the new, redeemed tongue builds up and edifies others, and gives grace.
Ephesians 4:29-30 “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
