Baptism
Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus, commanded to every believer, wherein the believer is fully immersed in water in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This acts as a a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and of giving himself up to God, to live and walk in newness of life. It serves also as a means of joining one’s self to the visible Church. Baptism is not salvific, and so is not justifying in and of itself. Therefore we reject that Baptism causes regeneration or conversion, but rather it is a response to the justification that has already occurred within the believer. Because of this, baptism ought only to be partaken of by those with a credible profession of faith who have been truly born of the Spirit. We believe Baptism to be a necessary step of faith for the believer to partake of the Lord’s Supper, and Church Membership.
